Continuing Professional development

Delve deeper into technique with our series of sunday classes for adults - teachers, students, dancers and those with experience. Classes allow a deeper insight to technique and different genres of dance, led by a range of teachers who offer their experience and own unique style. Classes are held at Knole Academy in Sevenoaks, Kent. 

 

CPD Sunday Dates 2020

Block 1: Sunday 2nd Feb, 10.30 - 1pm

10.30 - 11.20am --- Contemporary Floor Warm Up with Sam Blackden

11.30 - 1.00pm ---- Contemporary Technique with Marie Forbes

Dancer, Choreographer and Teacher. Teaches Limon/Release based Adult Contemporary at The Place and is the Dance Artist Educator for Siobhan Davies Dance. Marie teaches a joyful yet challenging class that is tailored to the individual needs of the participating dancers. Using the principles of Limon technique, her class utilises the use of weight and breath to encourage movement that works with the body rather than against it.

 

Block 2: Sunday 1st March, 10.30 - 1pm

10.30 - 11.20am --- Release Technique with Sidonie Carey Green

11.30 - 1.00pm ---- Cunningham Inspired Technique with Sam Blackden

Inspired by the curve, tilt, arch, twist and upright position of the back, this class takes you through the principles of the Cunningham technique combined with fluid and expressive style. Delve deeper into technique through contemporary centre and travelling exercises set to challenge and invigorate.

 

Block 3: Sunday 29th March,10.30 - 1pm

10.30 - 11.20am ---Jazz Technique Warm up

11.30 - 1.00pm ---- Horton Inspired Contemporary Technique with Sarah Walker

Class exploring the principles of the Horton Technique, challenging the whole body through movement that includes flat backs and lateral stretches, tilt lines and lunges. This class will build flexibility, strength, coordination and body and spatial awareness to enable freedom of expression through movement. The Horton technique is most visible today in Alvin Ailey's work.
