The dancers from The Canterbury Institute for Performing Arts ( CPA) have been selected to perform their work this year at the regional finals taking place in Suffolk as part of the Lift Off Dance Festival. We are thrilled to be part of this performance opportunity. Find out more here.

The Winter Showcase was a roaring success with a sold out audience! Over 150 Cascade youth performers came together to showcase a range of work and styles. Watch the videos on from the showcase here via our YouTube Playlist. We will return in July with our Summer Showcase in July.

Professional performer Layton Williams returned to Cascade to deliver a repertoire workshop from Hairspray The Musical! The dancers had a great time with Layton and later watched him perform in the UK Tour of RENT at the Tunbridge Wells Assembly Halls. Watch the 2016 Layton Workshop here

Our 10th year anniversary dance production showcased over 300 young performers over the weekend of 11th an 12th February at The Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks. A magical production taking audiences down the yellow brick road and sharing the hard work of dancers aged 3 - 19 years. Find out more about our annual productions
URBAN8 ran for 8 weeks in February offering Urban Dance classes for young dancers 15 - 25 years. The project was launched through the Sportivate Funding Programme held at West Kent College. We are looking to relaunch the project in September 2017! Watch this space!
Our Autumn Platform was hosted on Saturday 3rd December and was well received by our dancers and audience members. Groups from across the South East performed their work including The Canterbury Academy, Rapture Dance Company, Loop Dance DASP. PICTURES from the event are still available to purchase via Sue Tye.

The dancers from The Canterbury Academy performed in Canterbury City Centre on Saturday 15th October as part of the Canterbury Festival Opening ' Community Stage' . We created and performed a medley of work which used Jazz and Contemporary to entertaining and capture passers by.... We drew quiet a crowd!
Dancers from the Canterbury Institute for Performing Arts ( Canterbury Academy) will be taking part in the Kent School Games Cultural Celebration on Sunday 18th September. Our dancers performed at the Winter Garden Theatre in Margate, watch their performance here.
Another jam packed dance platform hosted on Saturday 2nd July in Tonbridge. Our Platform was part of THE BIG DANCE FESTIVAL 2016 & U DANCE and involved over 150 performed from across Kent & the South East. Individual video clips of the dance pieces will be available to purchase very soon.
Our practitioner Ellie Byrd headed to South East Dance this week to learn the 2016 Big Dance Pledge this year choreographed by Akram Khan. The choreography was delivered to over 80 dancers and performed at the Evolve Dance Platform on Saturday 2nd July. Watch the video clip 1 here & video clip 2 here.
Our Early Years, Juniors and Cascade Youth dancers performed on Monday 2nd May at Hilbert and Grosvenor Park in Tunbridge Wells. We had a great time and pictures will be available to view via our facebook page
We hosted a commercial dance workshop with professional dancer and actor Layton Williams in June for dancers aged 13 - 19 years. The workshop gave dancers a great workout and a real feel for professional dance classes and further training. Layton will be returning next year, please keep checking for information. Our Youth dancers took part in the Mardi Gras Festival at Sadlers Wells Theatre London on Saturday 21st May. Our dancers performed two new pieces choreographed by Ricia and Sam. You can view pictures via our Instagram account
We had a great time at MOVE IT this year at London Excel. Sam Blackden taught an Open Contemporary Class with a Cunningham Technique Influence on Friday 18th March and our Canterbury Academy Dance Programme Students performed their new work in the Showcase Theatre. Watch a snippet here
Our production of ALICE went extremely well! Over 150 dancers came together at the Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks on Sat 16th January to perform our adaption of the Alice in Wonderland tale. We are delighted to have performed at Disneyland Paris with ' Take us to the Magic' on Tuesday 25th August! We took a residential trip with 20 Cascade dancers to Paris this august. Watch a medley of our performance here
On Thur 9th & Fri 10th July we showcased 15 different dance groups, schools and adult dance companies from the South East: Knole Academy, Mascalls, Tonbridge Grammar, Definition Dance, Canterbury Academy, West Kent College, Homewood School, DanceOn, MoJo Dance, Cascade Adult Collective and Ceyda Tanc Associate Dance Company.
The Dance Programme at Canterbury Academy were selected to take part in a selection / performance day for U Dance 2015 as part of the New Dimensions strand. The dancers performed at The Southbank Centre in London on Saturday 28th February.
Our director Ricia Coleman had a great time teaching an Advanced Jazz class on Saturday 14th February at the biggest dance exhibition MOVE IT 2015, Olympia London. Class pictures are soon to follow!

Snow White & the Ice Queen was a huge success! Our enchanted dance production inspired by the classic fairy-tales from both The Brothers Grim and Hans Christian Andersen took place on Sunday 7th December in Sevenoaks, Kent. Our breath-taking production showcased dancers aged 3 - 25 years.

We ran a first aid course for young dancers on Sunday 8th September. The course was a St John's Young Lifesaver certificate, providing young people with a qualification for 3 years. We accredited 8 young dancers who are first aiders in the community! If you would be interested in the next First Aid course get in touch ( Course costs £35 and is open to 11 - 19years). The Cascade Youth Collective performed at the Commonwealth Youth Dance Festival between 9th - 13th July in Glasgow. We represented the UK at the festival and shared our experience with 400 dancers in 36 different companies across the Globe. After months of fundraising and dance training, our young dancers took part in a truly fantastic residential trip full of experiences which enthused and inspired everyone! We had a fantastic platform at the Gulbenkian Theatre on Sunday 13th July, showcasing some of the very best of youth dance in East Kent. IGNITE was our first performance opportunity in partnership with South East Dance and the Gulbenkian Theatre, all part of Kent Dancing and Big Dance South East England 2014. We received some fantastic feedback and are looking forward to continuing this event in the future.
In June 2014 we held a showcase to share the works of our Kent based youth companies. The showcase was held at South East Dance Studios in Hextable with a sell out evening show! Over 100 young gifted and talented dancers came together and demonstrated their skills and passion for dance with performances in Contemporary, Ballet, Street Dance, Jazz and Physical Theatre.

Our Tunbridge Wells Youth Company and Graduate Company had a great time performing at South East Dance's youth platform, Kent Dance Mix on Sunday 24th November. The dancers worked with company 'Urban Playground' to create a new work/curtain raiser.
We had a great time at the Gulbenkian Theatre on Friday 1st November with our Curtain Raiser, supporting the opening of 'Nobulus - Out of the Shadows' in Canterbury. Dancers from our Dance Academy, Graduate and Performance Company all took part in this piece. Click Here to watch this video!
